59 Year Old Gives Birth To Triplets in France

How old is too old? I am not here to judge, but I do work with IVF physicians who are appalled when a 50-year-old woman wants to become a mother, let alone a 59-year-old woman.

Besides age and egg donation, this article also highlights France's strict laws regarding third-party parenting. It is illegal to provide fertility treatments to a woman past natural reproductive age. What is age is natural? While 59 is probably past "natural" woman in their early 50s have been known to naturally have children.

It's hard to know exactly where to draw the line isn't it? I read a couple articles not long ago about older women having children and I have to admit that personally I think mid- to late forties is about as old as I think is "ok" - not that I have any right to judge. Personally I chose to have my children in my late 20s/early 30s because I think it is easier FOR ME to be a mom at this age than it would be in 20 years.

I can see both sides of it. I tried having children in my 30s, but it didn't happen until I was 40 and while I am financially able to give my children more because I was older, physically it's not the same! I'm in good shape, but I have to be because I'm older. I need to keep up with my young children.

Dora, only you can know what is best for you and your family. I helped a 54 year-old have twins and her husband is 10 years younger than she is and he didn't have any children. She has tremendous support from her family to help her along the way. Best of luck to you!

You can have young mothers who leave their children to their own parents because they still need to work and want to have fun. Then you have the older ones that are financially stable and can afford children but run the risk of being called names for waiting too long. You can never please the public and there are always going to be different opinions regarding when it is right to have children. Personally, its all in the mind and how capable you are. Age is not the main point, its your brains because without them, you cant bring up a child even if you are what is considered the right age. My aunty looked after her children and then her grandchildren. She was 55 and had a new brew to take care of. The only thing she didnt do, was have them sleep at her house daily. She is no different from someone who has a baby at that age, becuase she still brought them up until they were in their twenties. Then you get a teenage mum. People think its cute and mother and daughter or son can do things together, yet when mother gets home she is confused, and she is lost to how to live her life. Wouldnt it have been better to have given the child to someone who is in a stable relationship and can offer a good future. Age isnt the issue, your brains are. If you are mentally strong, then you can look after children and always keep up with them at any age, but if you are weak minded and have issues, its best to wait until you understand what is happening. Any age is right to have a child if your mind is working for you and not against you.
