In an article published in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Sonji Jacobs reports that Georgia lawmakers are concerned about property rights over unused embryos and have formed a subcommitte to discuss the issue. Couples undergoing IVF are concerned that lawmakers would limit the number of embryos that can be created and the number of embryos that can be transferred to the uterus. Currently, no other state legislates embyros; however, other countries do legislate the number of embryos tha can be created and transfered, but those countries also have socialized medicine.
I agree with the couple in the article that it is a decision that should be left up to the couple and the parties involved and not the state legislature. Read the complete article here.
